Happy Halloween - The Quilts were Aired

Hi Everyone

I hope that all our customers that were affected in the Blue Mountains fires are safe and well.

WHAT''S NEW

Quite a bit really, we hid the new stock during the sale.

My pile of the new Kaffe Fasset prints, after I scanned them.

Yummy new Phillip Jacobs.  All these are up on the website.

THE AIRING OF THE QUILTS

Thank you to everyone who came on Sunday and shared your quilts with us.

I send a special thanks to Kaye Brown (The Finishing Touch) for letting us look at some of her quilts without being here herself.  They were beautiful Kaye.

I will just put up a selection of quilts for you all to enjoy.  From past experience I will need to post more tomorrow.

Isn't it wonderful what people have in there cupboards.  More to come.

QUILTS THAT CAME TO VISIT

The lovely lady who made these quilts really has an eye for detail.  The quilting was sublime (if only mine looked as good).

HAMPTON RIDGE

NEW BLOCK OF THE MONTH

Looking for a Civil War pieced masterpiece, here it is in Hampton Ridge.  The Block of the Month pattern has been created by Red Crinoline Quilts, and Paula Barnes has designed the fabric to make the quilt. How often does that happen!  The quilt has instructions for two methods of machine construction - machine foundation piecing and our BOM includes all the foundation papers; or machine half square triangle method.  Clear instructions are included. The patterns are easily adaptable for hand piecing.

These are close ups of some of the blocks.  You can see all the details of Hampton Ridge on our web-site -www.quiltsmith.com.au. or ring the shop 02 9550 4947 for details.  We also have the full Hampton Ridge fabrics up close on the web-site, in Fabric Collections, if you want to check them out.

We Are Airing The Quilts Again

Hi Everyone

It's spring so we need to see our antique quilts get an airing.

AIRING OF THE QUILTS

Sunday 27 October, 2 pm for a 2.30 start.

It’s on again.   I have some new quilts to show.

For those of you who missed it the last few times, for some years now I have wanted to have a “show & tell” of customer’s antique and vintage quilts.  I know a number of us buy old quilts, love them to death but end up putting them away safely in a cupboard.  I know I do that myself.

So if you have some quilts you would like to share with other quilt collectors, bring them along.  If you just love old quilts but don’t own any, come along too, you may catch the bug.

Bookings are essential for the Airing of the Quilts, as we only have so many chairs, so please ring to book your place, and let us know if you are bringing quilts with you.

Cost $12.00
Afternoon tea will be provided.
Limited numbers so ring to book your place now on
02 9550 4947.

NEW WORKSHOP

                  ROBYN TAYLER

MARINER’S MEDALLION – Machine Pieced

Wednesday                             30 Oct, 13 Nov.         10am – 3pm                2 classes                     $140.00

This quilt was inspired by a quilt made in Scotland in the 1840’s by Grace Slater. The original quilt uses hexagons instead of squares in the alternate blocks and is made in shades of red, brown, blue and cream. This version reflects the original, however the incorporation of some modern prints and bright colours updates the pattern while retaining the look of a vintage quilt.

Please call the shop on 02 9550 4947 if you would like to book a place.
