Civil Crosses - New Quiltsmith Block of the Month

Hi Everyone

Ever so slowly we are conquering the new technology and have now started to load the huge back log of new fabrics. so keep peeking at the web-site.

WHAT'S NEW

CIVIL WAR CROSSES

QUILTSMITH'S
NEW BLOCK OF THE MONTH

Civil Crosses is Quiltsmith’s second in-house Block of the Month. In this quilt we have combined our two loves, quilt history and colour.  With Civil Crosses we hope everyone can see just how bright and colourful Civil War period quilts can be.

Civil Crosses is a wonderfully colourful example of the mid eighteenth century “Turkey Red & Green” colour way, sometimes referred to as Pennsylvania Dutch colours. (Although the Pennsylvania quilts tend to be more circa 1870-80).  The use of ‘Cheddar” yellow as the setting colour is a very important and accurate to the Civil War period.

Here is the complete quilt (sorry the photo is not the best, we just couldn't get the lighting right), with some close ups of the blocks.

We are promising no fabric substitutions so you can have full confidence with our Block of the Month programme.

Please go to our web-site with for full details.

Hay Fever Madness

Hi Everyone.

I think here, in Sydney, we are having  a scary start to Spring.  Hot, windy and the bush fires have already started.  I am a long term hay fever sufferer and this week has been bad.  So I would like to say to all allergy sufferer's take a shallow breath and try some fabric distraction therapy.

WHAT'S NEW

We now have our second delivery of Kaffe's new book "Quilt Grandeur" in the shop.  The first delivery disappeared in three days.  The book is $55.00.  It will be up on the web site shortly.  I think we have sorted out our "techy" problem with the images. It will take us a few weeks to catch up, but new fabrics should start appearing on our web site next week.

OUT AND ABOUT AT EPPING QUILT SHOW

Here are some photo snips of some of the quilts hanging at last week's Epping Quilt Show.  This was Epping's 30th year anniversary.  Great show, and thanks to all involved, I enjoyed getting out from the shop to see quilting in action.

Back on-line and on the way to the Epping Show

Hi Everybody

We have just about survived our hardware/software upgrade. We are now on Microsoft 13, it is a whole lot different from what we were using.  I must remember that change is good.

Our only problem is our scanner has died (too old to talk to the new software) and guess what we are having trouble finding an accurate enough photo program to get the fabric right to load on the web-site.  So we still cannot load the new stock.  Be assured when we find the technology we have hours of new fabrics to load.
