SEASONS GREETING FROM ALL AT QUILTSMITH

I am so happy that the world still goes on today, I'm not ready to stop sewing yet. I wonder if any of the survivalists packed some fabric and kit in their bags?

Anyway, we can all get on with the business of Christmas now.

Everybody at Quiltsmith would like to wish all our friends and quilters around the world a very Merry whatever you are doing.  Heaven forbid this could be the one week of the year the sewing gets neglected and we all eat to much.  We hope you all have fun.

Now some shop stuff.

WHAT'S NEW

Two beautiful new fabric Collections from Barbara Brackman.

Yes its the new William Morris Collection which may be of interest for those of you doing Barbara's current block of the week.

Our shipment of new Kim McLean patterns has arrived, so if you have been after one they are in stock now.

My Applique Project No. 3

Kim McLean' s Flower Garden quilt

You may remember before the weather turned cold I was working though my enormous pile of half finished quilts.  Then they were all packed away so I could hand quilt. (I can only quilt in winter, I also did a bit of knitting this year).  The big news is I finished the quilt I was quilting (well except for the binding).  One ticked of the hand quilting pile.  I will be showing this quilt at the Darling Harbour Show next year.  So no photos yet.

I had finished all the applique blocks in my version of Flower Garden.  Up they went on the design wall to work out what sashing the quilt needs.  It is sorted and putting in the sashing is one of my "Missions" for the holidays.

The decision has been made, hopefully I can show you something when the shop re-opens.

QUILTSMITH WILL OPEN ON THURSDAY 10 JANUARY NEXT YEAR.

SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR AT SUMMER SCHOOL

End of Year Clean Up

Hi Everybody

The end of the year is fast approaching so here are our Christmas Trading Dates.

Our last day is Saturday 22 December.

We re-open on Thursday 10 January.

You can place orders on-line throughout the break as I will come into the shop to do mail orders once a week whilst we are closed.

After our Sale, we now have the annual excitement of clearing out stock into our Value Fabrics in the shop.

I am culling madly, as, despite the Sale, we still have no room for new stock.  I am working my way through the shelves.  I'm currently in the Japanese fabrics.

Now our Value Fabrics (the ones in the cardboard boxes) that normally retail for $13.50 per metre are overflowing.

So as a final Christmas present we are marking down all our Value Fabrics to $9.00 per metre (0.5m minimum), up until we close at Christmas.

This sale is only available to customers who visit the shop as these fabrics are not on-line.

Please try to drop in as some great fabrics are being discounted.  More will be added all the time until I have the shop just right.

GWEN MARSTON WORKSHOPS 2013 DIARY DATES

Hi everyone

GWEN MARSTON WORKSHOPS AND LECTURE - JULY 2013

Our big BIG BIG news is that one of my own personal quilting heros is coming to teach and lecture in Australia next year.  This is the first time Gwen has been in Australia.  I have loved her quilts and watched her develop since the 1980's.  She is a true fiber artist and inspirational quiltmaker.

In Sydney she is doing four one day workshops, two at Quiltsmith and two at Cottage Quiltworks.  She will also be giving an evening lecture.  The dates for the Quiltsmith Workshops are Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 July 2013.  We have no further details as yet.

These are some of Gwen's books.

I strongly recommend you register your interest in doing a Workshop now as spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first in bases.

Please ring the shop  on 02 9550 4947 to register your interest.

VERY VERY EXCITED
